Disney Rarities Mint 1 oz 999 Gold DOPEY from Snow White’s 50th Anniversary.
OBVERSE— In 1987, Disney contracted with Rarities Mint in Anaheim, CA to produce 11 characters who originally premiered in the 1937 classic animated film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. These medallion like coins were minted in various sizes and weights of both .999 Gold and Silver. The serial numbers were imprinted on the edges of most coins and were made to match the serial number on the Certificates of Authenticity.
REVERSE—Although minted in .999 Fine Gold, and over the years, I have noticed that almost all of these coins have developed minor copper/red toning marks here and there. This is NOT caused by improper storage, etc., but simply by impurities in the Gold alloy mixture probably by some dissolved copper when it was melted into a Gold planchette prior to striking.
