    Here is a complete issue of the Illustrated London News from January 27, 1945. This storied publication carried primarily World War II news during these years. This issue starts with a portrait of Joseph Stalin. There is a map of the Russian Offensive with Russian Offensive milestones, town and leaders. News of murdered US prisoners found at Malmedy. Also photos of the Brit 2nd Army into the Roer Salient. The center illustration is the Making of a “Mulberry”. A Mulberry harbor was a portable temporary harbor developed by the British to facilitate rapid offloading of cargo onto the beaches during the Allied invasion of Normandy. It was developed in a large extent based on the marine construction techniques used by Guy Maunsell for his "sea forts". Two prefabricated or artificial military harbors were taken in sections across the English Channel from Britain with the invading army and assembled off the coast of Normandy as part of the D-Day invasion of France in 1944.
