He commenced operational flying Aug. 1940 with #115 Bomber Sq, #3 Group, from 1943 to 1944 he flew with #7 Pathfinder Force Sq, thereafter a wide variety of postings including Transport Command where took part in the RAF flights to the Crimea for the Yalta Conference in 1945.
