    A history of the R.A.F station at Sutton's Farm (later Hornchurch) which was built in 1915 for the air defence of London against zeppelins and Gotha bombers, and which provides a summary of the entire campaign to protect London from air raids during the Great War and thereafter; the second half of the book considers the Battle of Britain, 1940. Among the appendices is a list of all operational sorties flown from Sutton's Farm, 1915 - 1918. The book is illustrated with many photos not previously published. Maps to endpapers. Appendices.
