    A history of the squadron from its formation on 1 September 1917, as part of the Royal Flying Corps, through to its disbandment in August 1975. It flew bomber operations during WWI and WWII and for a two-year period from 1954 to 1956. In 1959 it began a 16 year period of helicopter operations until August 1975.
