The son of Robert Scott, who died in the Antarctic, became a world renowned naturalist, wildlife painter, founded the wildfowl trust in GB in 1951, and during WW 2 made an outstanding contribution to the war effort when he joined the Royal Navy and distinguished himself in motor torpedo boats in the English Channel against German light coastal forces. Much of the book concerns his wartime career with British Light Coastal Forces.
